Poetry: I do not believe in love

Sonnets, magic, stars

I do not believe in love

How can this be real?

Pain

Inevitable impossible

Falling feeling trusting

Little bit of everything

Worrying slipping hurting

Pure marvelous

Love

when i dismantle piece by piece before your feet,

will your tears blind you? will you dismantle too? until we are both tangled

limbs? when i dismantle piece by piece before your chin,

will you run away from the pain there? will you fear me,

or will you say, “me too,” so we can both

come back together together again?

When the negativity hits you,

throw back your arms.

Let it lift and carry you.

Know that it will never destroy you.

Understand.

Pain is temporary.

You are eternal.

You are the light that melts into the dawn.

Your parents’ true love and all the hopes

they traced into the stars of your birth.

You are not your pain nor your mistakes.

When the emotions wash over your head and you fear

You will drown,

Let go of all that is certain and let it surround you

Know that it will never break you.

Understand.

Understand that love will protect you.

You do not have to prove yourself in this world–

You are already beautiful.
